"When I wander far from home,

I'll have courage I'm not alone."

Chapter History

   In the spring of 1957, Alpha Tau, an organization for men and women band students was started at Tech. It was formed as a service organization to help the band, and to promote fellowship in the band. The members of Alpha Tau then began to petition both Tau Beta Sigma, and Kappa Kappa Psi to become chapters. On March 14, 1958, the Beta Nu Chapter of Tau Beta Sigma was granted a charter and was installed by the Psi Chapter from the University of Arkansas. Today Beta Nu and Delta Delta pride themselves as being the first Greek organizations on Arkansas Tech’s campus, opening the gates for other organizations.

Chapter Founder's Day: March 14th, 1958

Chapter Mascot: Bear

   To better our chapter, Beta Nu has worked to create the F.O.R.T.E Project, which focuses on Tau Beta Sigma's Five Qualities and Eight Essential Factors to being a good band member, kind sister, and genuine individual.

   For each month, we meditate on the meaning of one specific quality or factor to better our lives. For the 2016-2017 academic year we have designated the following qualities and factors with the following months:

September: 1. Knowledge and development of your physical powers in the quest for good health and bodily perfection;

October: 3. Appreciation for and the maintenance of the highest moral standards;

November: 4. Achievement of and the personification within you of lofty spiritual ideals;

February: 2. Recognition and development of your intellectual potential;

March: 5. Cultivation and maintenance of your emotional poise under all conditions.

April: Reflection on ALL 8 Essential Factors
